Things Will Get Worse!

Hurricanes and their attendant destruction, earthquakes in Mexico, wars in various parts of the world creating a flood of refugees, political turmoil and partisanship everywhere and a host of other problems; what’s a person  to do?
With the ability to watch news channels 24 hours a day and receive real time dramatic action from the other side of the globe right into our living rooms, we can vicariously experience the news as if we were right there where the events are happening.
All of this has the potential to arouse a lot of fear and anxiety in people’s hearts. Perhaps it’s time to reflect and to put some things in perspective. I often hear the voice of my former Bible College prof who would teach us about the place of trials and struggles in a believer’s life. In his own laconic way, he would ‘encourage’ us with the remark, “Cheer up. It will only get worse.”
